I could use the phrase “humbling realization” or a similar falsely modest expression to describe my first encounter with Briseras.
– Lord Adrian Calder Jorgan
We can all recognize one of those moments when our fates will never be the same, can’t we? That sense of your world falling apart at the seams and being made new again?
For Lord Adrian Calder Jorgan—or just Jorgan as Briseras calls him—that moment arrived at exactly the same time that a certain huntress burst into his life.
This is his version of that story.
Now that you’ve finished Forest Deep, book four in the Age of Azuria high fantasy series, it’s time to get Jorgan’s side of his epic encounter!
I could use the phrase “humbling realization” or a similar falsely modest expression to describe my first encounter with Briseras. If I really wanted to, I could lie and pretend that’s what I felt in the moment I realized she was hunting me. In reality, it was more akin to being kicked in the groin and punched in the stomach at the same time. Fitting, as I believe that’s what Briseras wanted to do to me in any case.
The loss of blood from vampire bites didn’t help, and neither did the screeching of my ex-fiancée’s ghost.
Even with all those things considered, it’s hard for me to envision our meeting going any other way—silver eyes. Dark hair. A flash of steel.
And my world never the same.
Lord Adrian Calder Jorgan (or just ‘Jorgan’ if, like Briseras, you find three names and a title to be excessive) finds his world turned upside down as his common-born fiancée rejects him for another.
This tale follows the usual route: fiancée killed, a monster discovered, a dashing escape plot hatched, all to come crashing down once again at crossbow point, aforementioned crossbow wielded by the devastating, possibly devious Briseras Ravisthinia.
And as Jorgan would tell you himself, that was only the beginning of his troubles.
