Welcome, friends to the epic fantasy world of Azuria.
I’m so excited you’re joining me on this adventure!
A previous post walks through the areas of Azuria that we travel through in Buried Heroes. But what else lies waiting in this magical world?
The People of Azuria
There’s a great diversity of peoples across Azuria.
Human populations have gravitated to several city-states over the millennia: Linolynn, Hadvar, Andel-ce Hevra, and Nortelon. You will find elves, dwarves, gnomes, and fae in these cities as well. But if you’d like to see the height of elven civilization, you’re better off visiting the Elven Realms. There the elves have created three distinct cities—Invae Alinor, Thyles Thamor, and Shade Rest.
Much like the elves, the greatest numbers of Azuria’s dwarves and gnomes live in the vast underground city of Hammerfell to the north.
Of course there are lands of which we do not speak…
Horrors abound in the razor-sharp mountain passes and arid deserts of the Howling Wastes. But you didn’t truly want to travel there, did you?
The Origins of Azuria
Let me tell you, instead, the history of many of the places and landmarks we’ll see on our tour.
Before Azuria, there was another world, one with towering cities and magical technologies called Eldura. But while this world held many wonders, it remained plagued by war and bloodshed. The fighting stretched over centuries, across millennia, until finally, Alessandra and her minions declared their victory, and the world of Eldura was no more.
Traces of Eldura remain, hidden in the landscapes and maps of Azuria. Vestige Lake laps gently against her banks, where a great, ancient city once stood. North of Andel-ce Hevra, the Old Bastion Highlands whisper their tales of the elves who once walked there.
There are few who remember the tales of Eldura, but if you look closely, the stories linger on.
The saudad, the travelers of Azuria, are the keepers of Eldura’s legends. Their goddess Cassandra entrusted the world’s oldest stories to them, long, long ago.
In the spirit of the saudad, let us turn toward a story-tour. After all, to know a land is to know its legends. And I have the perfect storyteller in mind…
Please join me in welcoming Persephonie Arelle. Ah, I see you’ve brought Juliet in as well.
Friends, you remember Persephonie from Buried Heroes, do you not? Her story continues in Hadvarian Heist. But if you’ve been curious about what happens between and have wished to learn the lore of Azuria, then Persephonie and I have just the thing.
I’ll stop our tour now to give you time to read. I cannot wait to see where our future journeys together lead!
